Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

Your mountain adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, driving through the fertile Kenyan highlands to the beautiful Mountain Rock Lodge, where you’ll enjoy lunch before proceeding to Sirimon Gate (2,600m).

After completing park entry formalities, your trek officially begins. The trail meanders gently through dense indigenous forest, home to elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, colobus monkeys, and a remarkable variety of birdlife. As you steadily gain altitude, the landscape gradually transforms into bamboo forest, giant heather, and open moorland.

Arrive at Old Moses Camp (3,300m) in the late afternoon for dinner and your first night beneath the magnificent African mountain skies.

Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)

Wake up to crisp mountain air before setting out on one of the most scenic trekking days of the expedition. The trail traverses expansive moorlands filled with iconic giant lobelias, giant groundsels, everlasting flowers, and striking volcanic formations.

As you steadily ascend, spectacular panoramic views unfold across the Mackinder Valley, while the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya gradually dominate the skyline. Keep an eye out for mountain hyrax, sunbirds, and other unique alpine wildlife.

Arrive at Shipton’s Camp (4,200m) nestled beneath the towering cliffs of Batian and Nelion. Spend the evening acclimatizing while enjoying unforgettable views of Africa’s highest alpine landscape.

Day 3: Shipton’s Camp – Hausberg Valley – Two Tarn – Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m)

Today’s trek offers one of the most spectacular alpine traverses on Mount Kenya. After breakfast, ascend to Hausberg Col (4,700m) before descending into the breathtaking Hausberg Valley.

The trail continues past the crystal-clear Oblong Tarn and the beautiful Two Tarn Lakes, surrounded by enormous granite boulders sculpted over thousands of years. Along the way, marvel at dramatic cliffs, hanging glaciers, and the magnificent western face of Batian Peak.

Continue into the scenic Teleki Valley before arriving at Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m), your base for tomorrow’s summit attempt.

Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the highlight of your Mount Kenya adventure.

Day 4: Summit Point Lenana (4,985m) – Shipton’s Camp

Your summit adventure begins long before dawn as you leave camp around 3:00 AM under a canopy of brilliant stars.

Climb steadily across alpine scree and rocky slopes towards Point Lenana (4,985m), the highest trekking summit on Mount Kenya. Reaching the summit at sunrise is an unforgettable experience as the first golden rays illuminate the majestic peaks of Batian and Nelion, while the vast plains of Kenya stretch endlessly below.

Celebrate your remarkable achievement with breathtaking panoramic photographs before descending back to Shipton’s Camp for a well-deserved breakfast.

The remainder of the day is dedicated to relaxation and recovery while soaking in the serenity of Mount Kenya’s alpine wilderness.

Day 5: Shipton’s Camp – Sirimon Gate – Nairobi

After an early breakfast, begin your final descent through the beautiful Sirimon Valley. The downhill trek offers one last opportunity to appreciate the spectacular alpine scenery, giant moorlands, and abundant wildlife that make Mount Kenya one of Africa’s most treasured mountain destinations.

Arrive at Sirimon Gate, where your waiting vehicle transfers you to Mountain Rock Lodge for a refreshing hot shower and a delicious farewell lunch.
