Day 1: Nairobi – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

Your mountain adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, driving through Kenya’s fertile central highlands to the beautiful Mount Kenya region. Enjoy lunch at Mountain Rock Lodge before proceeding to Sirimon Gate (2,600m) where park registration formalities are completed.

Begin your ascent through dense indigenous forest, towering bamboo groves, rosewood, and giant heather vegetation. Keep an eye out for buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, monkeys, and numerous colorful bird species that inhabit these pristine forests.

After approximately 3–4 hours of hiking, arrive at Old Moses Camp (Judmaier Camp) (3,300m) where magnificent views of the surrounding valleys welcome you.

Overnight: Old Moses Camp

Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton’s Camp (4,200m)

Wake up to crisp mountain air before setting off across the spectacular alpine moorlands of the Mackinder Valley. Today’s hike gradually gains altitude while rewarding you with magnificent views of Mount Kenya’s towering peaks, dramatic ridges, and glacier-carved valleys.

Pause for a picnic lunch surrounded by breathtaking wilderness before continuing to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m), nestled beneath the imposing peaks of Batian and Nelion.

The afternoon is reserved for relaxation and acclimatization, preparing both body and mind for the summit attempt.

Day 3: Summit Point Lenana (4,985m) – Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m)

Your summit adventure begins before dawn at approximately 3:00 AM.

By the light of your headlamp, climb steadily over rocky terrain and scree slopes towards Point Lenana (4,985m). As dawn breaks across East Africa, celebrate reaching the hikers’ summit while enjoying unforgettable panoramic views stretching across the Kenyan highlands and, on clear mornings, as far as Mount Kilimanjaro.

After taking photographs and celebrating your achievement, descend via the Lewis Glacier route to Austrian Hut before joining the Naro Moru trail.

Continue descending to Mackinder’s Camp, where a well-deserved breakfast awaits before spending the remainder of the day resting and celebrating your successful summit.

Overnight: Mackinder’s Camp

Day 4: Mackinder’s Camp – Met Station – Naro Moru Gate – Nairobi

After breakfast, begin your final descent through beautiful alpine moorlands, giant lobelias, and fascinating high-altitude vegetation before reaching the Met Station.

Continue along a comfortable forest road to Naro Moru Gate (2,600m) where your Africa Safaris Adventure vehicle will be waiting.

Proceed to Mountain Rock Lodge for a refreshing hot shower and lunch before driving back to Nairobi, bringing your unforgettable Mount Kenya expedition to a successful conclusion.
